How to Throw the Perfect Baby Shower

A baby is on the way and all of your friends have a lot of questions about the baby. They are all urging you to start planning the baby shower, but you have no idea where to start. No matter what your situation is, we want you to have the perfect baby shower. The baby shower for most moms-to-be can be a last big hurrah before the baby comes.

Who, Where, and When

Who is hosting the shower? Where are you throwing the shower? When are you throwing it? These are the three most important questions to ask yourself before throwing your perfect baby shower.

You might think you have to host. However, several moms-to-be have other people host their baby shower. Having a baby can be stressful, appointing a friend to help host your baby shower will take a lot of stress off your shoulders.

The location is another big step to your perfect baby shower. Many moms-to-be have their showers at home, however, depending on the size of your shower, it is perfectly acceptable to have it at a party room or a banquet hall.

Timing is everything. Most moms-to-be plan their baby showers around the beginning of their third trimester. In recent years, morning baby showers have become more popular. Morning represents a new day and new beginnings! Whenever you decide to have your baby shower, make sure you plan the menu accordingly.

Guest List and Invitations

Your first baby shower will be your biggest, all of the excitement and joy of having your first child brings the most people to your baby shower. After your first baby, other baby showers will most likely be cut down to family and close friends.

Your invitations should be sent out a month beforehand so that people have enough time to RSVP. If you want to make a baby registry, this is a great time to do so. Include where your baby registry is located in the invitations so your guests will know where to go.

Preparation

There is quite a bit of preparation involved before your baby shower. This is why having someone to help host is a great idea. From thank you cards to a shopping list, a lot of preparation is involved.

Depending on your location, make sure you have enough chairs for everyone to sit. In addition, keep in mind floral arrangement centerpieces. If you can’t make them or do them yourself, order them as soon as possible to ensure there won’t be any problems at the baby shower.

Games and Activities

Baby showers are supposed to be fun and exciting. Games and activities can bring a baby shower to life. So, don’t forget a huge part of the baby shower.

A few activities you can include at your baby shower are:

Best Baby Name: Have everyone write a baby name and their name on a piece of paper. Then put it in a container, when the shower is almost over. Go through all of the names and whoever had the best baby name gets a prize.

Custom Blocks: This activity is a lot of fun for your guests, you, and your baby. Buy some blank wooden blocks and different colored sharpies. Have your guests create different blocks with pictures and letters. When your baby is old enough, they’ll get to play with the custom blocks that everyone made.

Advice Book: This activity is nice to do because it gives you words of wisdom from your friends and family. What you do is give everyone a blank card and an envelope. Tell everyone to write baby advice on the card. Then they put the card in the envelope and give it back to you. You can keep all of the envelopes in a binder. That way you have a binder full of advice anytime you have a question about your baby.perfect baby shower

Boy or Girl: This fun activity is just a way for everyone to guess if you are having a boy or a girl. There are several fun ways to tell people the sex of your baby.

Lettering on cookies or cupcakes.

Dying the inside of a vanilla cake pink for a girl and blue for a boy.

Showing off a personalized, knitted¬†BF Blanket with the baby’s name.
